We are still collecting lottery scratch off tickets in any denomination for the lottery tree. If you would like to donate please contact Cliff or Terri or mail to 4281 Route 50, Saratoga, NY, 12866.

Treasurers Report: Account balance is $22,496.38. Bank statement just arrived and monthly report is forthcoming. Accepted 1st-Lila, 2nd- Phyllis.

Secretary Report- Last months minutes reviewed. Accepted 1st-Brenda, 2nd-Phyllis

Gia Mertclifft from Discovery Toys and S Sgt. Bolan from Toys for Tots spoke of teaming up to benefit the toys for tots program and how we could help out. We decided as a group that we would be a collection point. There will be a collection box at 4281 route 50. We decided to focus our collection on items for babies and girls 12-14 since they are the age groups least likely to be collected for. If you have a donation for toys for tots please contact Cliff or Terri to arrange drop off. Monetary donations will also be accepted. S.Sgt. Bolan also discussed the need for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer please email us for his contact information.

Co-Chair Report-

Information received regarding the Holiday Parade in South Glens Falls. The parade begins at 1pm and all volunteers are asked to be at Carriage Traders/ Spare Time parking lots at 12 noon. Fee is one unwrapped toy per organization and a non perishable food item per person. The parade theme is "Home for the Holidays". We need volunteers to march with us and carry the flags. This is a huge parade with tons of spectators. Please join us to show your support to the troops.

The Basket Raffle for Uncle Shawn's Hugs was held at Aviation Mall over Labor Day weekend- Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday- We raised $700. Dawn and Paul Martin were present to draw the lucky winners. Thank you to Aviation Mall for being our host for the second year and all that helped man the table. There will also be a bake sale on October 9, 2011 at the Queensbury Methodist Church. We are asking for donations of baked goods for the sale- specifically breads, cookies, cupcakes, pies, brownies, fudge and candy (no store bought). We would like to keep cakes at a minimal as they have not been a big seller in the past. Please contact Terri or Lynette (dilmore@nycap.rr.com) with your commitment as soon as possible. Thank you.

Information was shared regarding Operation,"Adopt a Soldier" and their intentions. There was a story in the Associated Press to reflect the organizations "shady" operations. In earlier endeavors the organization collected over $340,000 to make a quilt to raise awareness to 9/11 victims. The quilt was never displayed. They are now soliciting schools all over the country for a monetary donation to send letters and posters to the troops. If you would like a copy of the article please email Cliff or Terri. It's extremely sad and very disturbing that there are organizations in operation for personal gain on the sacrifices of our troops and the Twin Towers tragedy.

Books for Troops Report:

Ellen shared her report and monthly statement. She requested items for an upcoming craft sale on October 1st. If you would like to donate your hand crafted items please contact Ellen at ekeegan3@nycap.rr.com. Dan Nolin sent me the details on the New York  State Interment  Ceremony
Friday, June 5thSaratoga  National Cemetery.
You served your country through a war, or through peacetime.   You expected to receive a military burial, recognition by our government of your  commitment to our great country.  You expected to have honor and respect  paid to you as a result of your service to our great country.  Instead, you  reside on a shelf in a mortuary or a storage facility at a  crematorium.    The mission of the MIAP/VRP project is to locate, identify and  inter the unclaimed cremains of veterans through the joint efforts of  private, state and federal organizations.   These forgotten  veterans have served our country and, as such, deserve to be  buried with honor and respect.  Theimpetus for our  fine program began in November 2006.  The Idaho State Veterans
cemetery interred 21 cremains of forgotten veterans, with full  military honors and the dignity these fallen heroes so richly deserved.  Recently, a state hospital announced that 3500 cremains were on  shelves to
be identified.  (The link to the newspaper article is:  http://tinyurl.com/2xrx9u_ (http://tinyurl.com/2xrx9u) .  On the shelf were cremains for the time  span of the 1890s to 1971.  It is estimated 1,000 of these cremains are  veterans.  This is happening in every state.   The MIAP/VRP operation began in New York this last year and we are continually  working with funeral homes to determine who may have unclaimed
cremated remains  and, more importantly, if any of those cremains may be that of a  veteran.
We are pleased to announce that at this early stage of the program we  have been given permission to inter 2 veterans that will no longer be  kept in custodial care within a funeral home.  These two veterans  will be laid to rest in their rightful place, with full military  honors, in Saratoga National Cemetery on Friday, June 5th of Americade  week. One of the veterans served in the Army in WWI - the other served in the
Army in WWII. This is what we have at this moment.  There is a very distinct  possibility
that we will have other veterans to inter come Friday, June  5th. Tentative schedule: For those in the North Country, including those attending Americade week,  participants will stage at the American Legion Post in Lake  George village and will leave this location at approx. 8:30am.   Travel South to the Flynn
Bros. Funeral Home in Schuylerville where the initial  MIAP/VRP ceremony will kick off at approx 9:30am.
Other participants coming up from the South of Schuylerville will stage  at the funeral home for services which will begin at 9:30am. Motorcycle escort of the veterans will then proceed South to the  Saratoga
National Veterans Cemetery where ceremonies and full  military honors will inter these veterans beginning at 10:00am. More complete details will follow in the coming weeks. Patriot Guard Riders mark your calendar for this day.  This is an  opportunity to show the rest of the nation how the New York PGR honors these
forgotten war veterans.  We anticipate significant participation from our  New York PGR members but also from those from across the nation who will be  attending Americade week in Lake  George.
More to follow………………

Garage Sale- Red and Nancy will handle details (need volunteers) Call 490-6404 if you can help out.  We will also be accepting any unwanted gently used items you would like to donate.  Tentative date for the sale is June 19 & 20.

Board of Directors- Motion by Dan Nolin, second by Mike McCotter to eliminate Art, Paul & Dave from the Board of Directors and seek new board members to carry out the bylaws and regulations set forth under section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Sean Smith will send details on the Wounded Soldier Motorcycle Run on July 25.
