Moreau Community Center
OAAS also donated three gift baskets to the Moreau Community Center in September as part of that organization's fundraising campaign. The center is slowly resuming community operations after suspending most programs because of the pandemic. The Hannaford free food giveaway on Mondays and Wednesdays continued to take place while the Food Pantry was also operating through the shutdown.
There were about 80 baskets available in the contest.
The OAAS gift baskets included a "chef's delight," consisting of three saute pans, utensils and other cooking aids. The new items, which could not be shipped overseas, were donated to OAAS during the August-long collection campaign at Hannaford markets in Glens Falls, South Glens Falls, Queensbury and Hudson Falls. Hannaford management was gracious in sponsoring the campaign to mark one year since OAAS was burned out of its former Wilton office.
Moreau Community Center has been a large contributor to OAAS, starting in September 2019 when it provided the group with a free booth at its annual block party and a pickup truck load of food. Center officials have consistently provided much-needed non-perishable food since that first donation, and their help is greatly appreciated.
